While participating in Landmark Education’s Self-Expression and Leadership Programme, Carolyn Huey came up with the following novel idea:
Fun Family Doggy Day Out
By Carolyn Huey
Let’s celebrate dogs in our community! Have you ever stopped to think about how great dogs are? They’re always welcoming when we open the door. They’re the best of company and never answer back. They’re fun when we want to play. They support us with our special needs. They give us endless loyalty and security in our lives.
So to acknowledge them we’re organising a great family Doggy Day Out in aid of The Dublin SPCA in Marlay Park on Saturday 8th May 2010, from 12 to 4pm.
Imagine being part of a local event to celebrate dogs – a day for all the family. You will be able to meet and talk to other dog owners, give your dog a great day out and participate in our many events for dogs that will be running in Marlay Park that day, including: Agility Demonstration; Temptation Tunnel; Micro-Chipping; Certificates of achievement for dog walkathon, Dog Photography plus lots more! Funds raised will go to the DSPCA. So you will be having fun, treating your pet and helping rescue dogs and supporting good causes all at the same time!
The Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a registered charity, established in 1840 to prevent cruelty to animals. This year marks their 170th anniversary of saving lives and fighting cruelty. Cruelty, neglect, accidental injury and sickness to animals continue today – and the DSPCA are still here dealing with these problems. They fight animal cruelty and abuse in all of its forms. The DSPCA provide direct care for thousands of animals, both domestic and wildlife, at their shelter on Mount Venus Road in Rathfarnham. They also provide low-cost mobile veterinary clinics every week in Tallaght, Coolock, Ballymun and Clondalkin. You can find out more about their great work at www.dspca.ie
